Level 5 Diploma in Operations and Departmental Management (RQF)

 

This qualification has been developed to support learners completing the Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship Standard and can be used to assess their readiness for end-point assessment. It covers the knowledge, skills and behaviors criteria of the standard, as described in the Assessment Plan. It is also designed as a stand-alone qualification for those learners wishing to gain a nationally recognised qualification in operations and departmental management.

 Level 5 managers are responsible for everything from creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, and leading and managing teams, to managing change, financial and resource management. Responsibilities also include talent management, coaching and mentoring. Roles may include those of Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager as well as other specialist managers

Entry Requirements for apprenticeship funding:

The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.er, but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.

Apprentices must not hold a level 4 or university degree, must be 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays and must have lived in the EU/EEA for the last three years. Applicants must be able to work at L4 or above and be in a work situation suited to the generation of appropriate evidence to complete the requirements. Registered learners must have access to a secure IT system.

The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills in leadership and management such as leading people, operational management, project management, finance and decision making.

Guidance on delivery 

 

  • Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 420 Hours
  • Guided Learning Hours (GLH) – 201 Hours

 

TQT is an estimate of the total number of hours it would take an average learner to achieve and demonstrate the necessary level of attainment to be awarded with a qualification, both under direct 
supervision (forming guided learning hours) and without supervision (all other time). TQT and GLH values are advisory and assigned to a qualification as guidance. 

How is the qualification assessed?

This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence which is gathered over a period of work throughout the course. This portfolio may be made up of evidence e.g., Written reports, observation records, CPD logs, performance review records and any other appropriate evidence type.

 

N.B. Course delivery and assessment is blended i.e., face to face and online mix. Delivery blend is at present subject to negotiated and appropriate change throughout the COVID-19 pandemic period.
